The New Music Seminar is one of the oldest music industry events running. It had it’s beginnings in 1980 when over 200 people convened at a New York City rehearsal studio to talk about the future of the music industry. Over the next 15 years, this event was a key music industry forum that gathered thought leaders from artists, producers and industry executives.
2009 saw the New Music Seminar revived out of necessity with impact of digital and the internet. This brought on the rapid decline of album sales making the music industry to have a serious look at the future of the industry, and engage the new business models that are evolving.
2014 – Music Producers Forum gets behind New Music Seminar
The Music Producers Forum shares similar values with the New Music Seminar, and with our passion for ensuring a solid future for the music industry, we are humbled to announce our support of the New Music Seminar.
I’ve been in correspondence NMS’s General manager Peter Scwhinge over the past two years, and have been talking about ways to work more closely. For the Music Producers Forum, we have seen our social network membership increase by over 400%, with over 24,000 members world wide. As our growth continues, I strongly believe that we have a responsibility to invest our time and resources with valuable industry initiatives such as the New Music Seminar.
